Today swing/jazz music, like the dance is enjoying a resurgence with modern stars like Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jnr, Jamie Callum and even Robbie Williams, picking up where the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davies Jnr left off. We dance to music from these stars and many more - new and old. |

In addititon to the fabulous partnered moves, we do individual line dance strolls similar to those created by swing's originators. E.g. The Madison, Shim Sham & Big Apple. These are just as much fun and great for enhancing your dancing as seen in our class here...

The dance is pretty much as popular again around the globe as it was during its heyday. It's still huge in the USA and also in countries like the UK, France, Russia and Sweden, which hosts the world famous Herräng Dance Camp, a 5 week teaching and social extravaganza attracting 1000's of students and the world's top instructors including Frankie Manning, one of the founders of swing (now in his 90s!) who is still in big demand throughout the world.

When big bands led by the likes of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller & Benny Goodman where on stage, the jazz/swing music they played brought 1000s of dancers onto the floor and Lindy Hop Swing evolved to match this fantastic music. By 1935 Lindy Hop had been adopted by the white community who called it the Jitterbug. Swing continued to spread around the world. Now there are many types of swing with Lindy Hop inspiring them all. In 2008 it's still such a cool dance! |
